Nashville In Person and Virtual Makeup Lessons for Real Life and Real Confidence

I think a lot of people feel overwhelmed by makeup right now.

There’s so much noise online. Every day seems to bring a new product, a new trend, a new “must-do” technique, or another video insisting you’ve been doing your makeup wrong all along.

Most people aren’t actually looking for all of that.

What I see over and over again are people who simply want to feel a little more confident in their routine. They want makeup to feel approachable, supportive, polished, and realistic for their actual life—not performative or exhausting.

That’s really the heart of how I approach both my private Nashville makeup lessons and virtual makeup lessons.

My goal isn’t to teach you how to look like someone else. It’s to help you better understand your own face, your own features, your own preferences, and what genuinely works for you.

A More Personalized Approach to Makeup Education

One of the biggest things I hear from clients is that makeup has become unnecessarily complicated.

A lot of people come into a lesson assuming they need to throw everything away and completely start over. Usually, that’s not actually the case.

More often, a few thoughtful adjustments, clearer guidance, and a better understanding of products and placement can make a huge difference.

That said, sometimes people do want to start fresh, and that's perfectly okay, too. If your makeup bag feels overwhelming, outdated, or full of products that never quite worked for you, I can help you sort through it and figure out what deserves a place in your routine moving forward.

I also want to say this because it comes up more often than you might think: you do not need to feel embarrassed before a lesson.

You don't need a perfectly organized makeup collection. You don't need expensive products. You don't need to know what you're doing. You don't even need to own much makeup at all.

Some people arrive with a makeup bag that's bursting at the seams. Others show up with only a few products or nothing at all. Either way is completely fine.

My role isn't to judge where you're starting from. It's simply to meet you where you are and help you build a routine that feels supportive, realistic, and right for you.

I don’t believe makeup has to feel rigid or trend-driven in order to be effective. Instead, I like to focus on creating routines that feel sustainable, comfortable, and natural to the person wearing them.

Some clients want a quick polished routine they can do before work meetings or school drop-off. Others are preparing for branding photos, speaking engagements, headshots, performances, or more visible seasons in their career.

Many of the people I work with are entrepreneurs, educators, authors, executives, speakers, creatives, and professionals who want to feel elevated and camera-ready without looking overdone or disconnected from themselves.

I also work with plenty of people who aren't preparing for a photoshoot, a speaking engagement, or a professional event at all.

Sometimes it's a new mom who spent the last few years focused on everyone else's needs and is ready to reconnect with herself again. Sometimes it's someone moving through a new season of life and realizing their old routine no longer feels quite right. Sometimes it's simply a person who wants to feel a little more confident when they look in the mirror each morning.

You don't need a particular career, occasion, or reason to deserve support. If you're looking for guidance that feels personalized, encouraging, and judgment-free, a makeup lesson can be a wonderful place to begin finding your way back to yourself.

What Happens During a Private Makeup Lesson?

My private in-person makeup lessons take place in my cozy East Nashville studio and are fully customized to the individual.

During our 90-minute session, I’ll walk you through products, techniques, placement, and application methods based specifically on your features, goals, comfort level, and lifestyle.

As I apply your makeup, we build a routine together that feels realistic and achievable for your day-to-day life.

The intention is never to overwhelm you with products or pressure you into doing more. I want you to leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more confident in your approach to makeup.

After the lesson, you’ll also receive a customized recap with:

  • Step-by-step instructions

  • Personalized product recommendations

  • Technique reminders

  • Notes tailored specifically to your routine and goals

That way, you don’t have to rely on memory alone once you get home!

Virtual Makeup Lessons That Meet You Where You Are

Not everyone is local to Nashville, and honestly, some people simply feel more comfortable learning from home.

My virtual makeup lessons are designed to offer the same thoughtful and individualized experience in a more flexible format.

These sessions can be especially helpful if you:

  • Travel often

  • Work remotely

  • Live outside Nashville

  • Want help using products you already own

  • Need guidance before photoshoots or speaking engagements

  • Prefer learning in your everyday environment

One of the things I actually love about virtual lessons is that we get to work with your real-life setup—your lighting, your products, your mirror, your routine.

That often makes it easier to create habits and techniques that genuinely stick!

Makeup for Photoshoots, Branding Sessions, and Professional Visibility

A large part of my work also involves being a Nashville makeup artist for photoshoots, branding sessions, and on-camera work.

Over the years, I’ve worked with photographers, entrepreneurs, educators, performers, executives, and creatives who need makeup that translates beautifully on camera while still feeling natural in person.

That balance matters.

Camera-ready makeup doesn’t necessarily mean heavy makeup. In many cases, the most effective makeup for headshots, branding sessions, author photos, performances, speaking engagements, and professional content is actually more subtle than people expect.

The goal is usually to create balance, structure, polish, and dimension while still allowing you to look like yourself.

For clients preparing for professional photos or visibility in their business, lessons can also help create a routine they feel confident recreating for future appearances, interviews, presentations, performances, or content creation.

Who Are Makeup Lessons For?

Honestly, almost anyone.

These sessions can be especially supportive if:

  • makeup trends leave you feeling overwhelmed

  • you’re not sure where to start

  • your current routine no longer feels like it fits

  • you want a more polished everyday look

  • you’re navigating changes in skin texture, style preferences, or gender expression

  • you’re a performer who often needs to do their own makeup

  • you want to feel more comfortable on camera

  • you’re preparing for branding photos or professional visibility

  • you want expert guidance without judgment or pressure

You absolutely do not need to be “good at makeup” to benefit from a lesson.

You also don’t need to wear a full face every day.

This work is much more about understanding than perfection.

Beauty That Still Feels Like You

The routines that tend to work best are rarely the most complicated ones.

Usually, they’re the routines that help you feel a little more grounded and supported in your day-to-day life. The ones that make you feel polished, expressive, awake, confident, or comfortable without feeling overly performed.

That’s the kind of beauty education I care about creating.

Thoughtful guidance. Individualized support. Real techniques for real people and real life.

Whether you’re looking for Nashville makeup lessons, virtual makeup lessons, or a Nashville makeup artist for photoshoots and branding work, my hope is that these sessions leave you feeling more confident in yourself—not more pressured to chase perfection.
